I do this through teaching Tai Chi and running the Health Gallery Nutrition Center. And, I have been doing these two jobs for many years. In order to feel better, you have to learn how to take care of yourself, especially if you are in the position of being a care giver. I tell my students, "There are only 3 things that you can control in your life: what you eat, how you move, & what you think." Each one of those must be considered when you want to change how you feel.
Taking classes in Tai Chi is one way to choose how you move. Tai Chi is a martial art practiced primarily for balance, relaxation, stress reduction, cardiovascular health, & longevity. It is a way to improve or maintain physical & mental wellbeing, often described as moving meditation. I teach in Langlois at the Lion's Club, in Port Orford at the Senior Center, in Gold Beach at the Wellness Center, and my student teacher, Deane McConnell, teaches in Brookings through SWOCC.
The Health Gallery addresses what you eat, including what you put on your body. Supplements to food can be taken for a specific condition, or for maintenance support in the form of capsules, tablets, powders, teas, or tinctures. Besides providing over the counter answers to questions about health, I offer private consultations for more complex situations.
I take care of loving myself through teaching movement, eating a mostly whole food plant based diet, supplementing with herbs, quality body care products, getting massage therapy, acupuncture, attending classes at the Gold Beach Community Fitness Center with coach Ray Ravare Jr, But most important is returning home to the land and the house I have lived in since 1981.
I look forward to meeting any of you who have yet to find me at the Health Gallery in Gold Beach open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10 to 4, and Saturday 10 to 2.
If you have questions about the Tai Chi classes, give me a call at the Health Gallery 541-247-7077, or text my cell 541-373-3206
