for Insight, Healing, and Self-Expression
There are various types of mandalas found in different cultures and used for a multitude of purposes, both artistically and spiritually. Mandalas can be precise, carefully measured, geometric, and perfectly symmetrical – for example, sand mandalas created by Buddhist Monks.
The creation of mandalas has long been viewed as a therapeutic art form. To make a mandala you choose the intention, or topic to reflect on... you contemplate... and only then you draw the symbols and colors which come to you as vision or inner feeling in the moment, without preconceived ideas.
The primary purpose of creating a mandala is not to make a beautiful piece of art, but rather to awaken and develop the connection with your inner Self. The process of creating a mandala is often enjoyable and has an element of surprise. When creating mandalas for personal enjoyment and reflection, there are no rules. One can draw symmetrical patterns or fill the circle with shapes and colors in any way. It is entirely up to the person drawing the mandala to decide, and this is the practice we explore in our mandala class with Bozena.
You will be provided with all the materials you need for this supported, creative exploration, even a cup of tea, if you'd like!
